This book would have earned a higher rating had it not been for the much better work on the Boeing 247 published pretty much simultaneously by van der Linden. Having read both, this book doesn't cover anything van der Linden's doesn't, what IS covered is not covered in (generally) as much depth, and it's paperback to boot (likely nothing the author had control over). The relative obscurity of the topic makes me marvel that there could have been two books in production pretty much EVER, much less simultaneously and the thought neither author could have been aware of the other's effort seems far-fetched as the base sources of information regarding the subject are limited and closely-held. Ah well.
Both books are LONG out of print so my words will have no effect on either author. Were I you (and my 50 year veteran Boeing engineer father agrees) I would purchase the van der Linden book and give this one a pass. Not that there are any real defects to this one, just that the other one did a better job.
