Paging through the book was like reliving the glorious hope of the 60's. I would love the book even if my photo from the Seattle Public Schools archives wasn't in it.

Ride the trolley up the ridge of Beacon Hill and discover one of South Seattle's most interesting districts. Unique among Seattle neighborhoods, Beacon Hill is a community where immigrants from all over the globe have settled side by side for over 100 years. This new book tells the story of the people and businesses of Beacon Hill in vintage photographs, the majority of which date before World War II. Readers will learn about the immigrants who worked on farms, opened shops, and labored in shipyards, the building of Jefferson Park, as well as the activism and political struggles that shaped the Beacon Hill neighborhood.

Seattle Then and Now (Then & Now) Review

Seattle Then and Now (Then and Now)

This book could not have been written by a Seattle native - it simply contains too many errors and ommissions. Several items are mislabeled and the dialog for each picture is vapid.
Additionally, it would not have been that difficult to match the "now" to the "then" photos. Many of the "now" pictures were taken at different angles and with the wrong lens.
A good concept but poorly executed.

It Happened in Seattle: Remarkable Events That Shaped History (It Happened In Series) Review

It Happened in Seattle: Remarkable Events That Shaped History (It Happened In Series)

I enjoyed what there was of this book, but it seems to be lacking HUGE things that have happened to Seattle.
What about 2 serial killers of the 80s (Green River/Bundy)? What about Mount Saint Helens? How does the Nisqually quake get in and not St Helens? How does a bus crash get in and not two of the biggest serial killers in history? Is it because they didn't really happen in Seattle, but the surrounding areas?
What about Microsoft and Amazon? How does Starbucks get in and not Microsoft?
I like the layout of the book and I like the attempt of the author - I was just hoping for more.
