I am not sure what Mr. Strammer was looking for. I thought this book was done very well and was easy to follow. The Author never states either in the book or on the Author website that the procedures that he outlines are exactly the procedures a real pilot goes through when flying this plane. The author also states that even if he knew the exact procedures he would not have published them because of national security and to not contribute to another 911 incident. The author states that this was only created to help the simmer to easily fly the big planes and never stated the procedures were true to fact. I agree that most of the material in the book could be located on the internet but the author took the time to bring it all together so the simmer would not have to spend hours searching the net. If you want to fly this plane exactly the way the real pilots do then it is best you take flying lessons. I would recommend this book for any simmers that are ready to take on the big planes and to easily enjoy flying around the world. The first time I used this book I was able to take off and land without incident. Considering I use to crash all the time the book made it worth while and makes Flight Simulator a lot more enjoyable. Nice screen shots, easy to follow for the beginner and experienced simmer a lot of interesting information. I would recommend it.

Bruce began his infatuation with Flight Simulator while taking flying lessons and dabbled in the game after Microsoft released Flight Simulator 95. Becoming a serious flight simmer with the next Microsoft release of Flight Simulator 98 that added many features and a more realistic feeling. Bruce had to give up his enthusiasm of being a real pilot after being diagnosed with a disabling disease. It was at this time that he decided to dedicate more time to assisting other new and experienced flight simmers on how to enjoy Microsoft Flight Simulator by modifying AFCADs, creating Flight Plans, and designing repaints of various aircraft. Bruce never forgot how difficult it was when he first began playing Flight Simulator in trying to fly the larger planes and also the lack of instructions. The idea of flight simulator was to have the simmer enjoy flying around the world and to get the sense and appreciation of what real commercial pilots do on a daily basis. With this in mind, Bruce, wrote The Complete Visual Tutorial To Flying The Boeing 737 to assist the new and experienced simmer in learning how to fly like a real pilot and to begin their flight with taxiing from the gate to the assigned runway, to take-off, to landing and to taxing back to the stand all the time communicating directly with the Air Traffic Controller. Bruce is also a consultant and Coordinator of Safety at a local hospital in Connecticut.

Based on all I'd heard of Captain Mike and his gift for explaining all things aviation related, I expected this book to be a jewel in the rough of how to books for flight simmers looking to get serious about their hobby. Unfortunately, this book is about as rough as they come.
First off, let me make one thing perfectly clear: I've no doubt Capt. Mike knows his stuff. That's to be expected after a lifetime spent piloting for a living. But what is also painfully obvious after just a few pages is 1) this book was either not proofread or proofed by someone who didn't have the heart to make some serious changes, and 2) Capt Mike can't write or organize his thoughts to save his life. Now, I'm not talking about the endless strings of "it's" that should be "its". I can forgive that all too common grammar mistake. I'm talking about a far more serious error; namely, the confusing layout of the book. It's as if Capt Mike wants to tell you everything at once and ends up telling you nothing at all.
To give one specific example: the book is organized into three tutorials, each with a different flight. The first involves a flight around KSEA, and the second a flight between KLAS and KLAX. So in the second tutorial, while he's showing you how to set up the FMC, what airport do we see? You guessed it - KSEA. Basically, if this were a computer program instead of a book, it'd be so buggy as to require an immediate patch.
I wish I could give this book a higher rating, especially since I already bought it. If Capt Mike's books really are the best on the subject, then there is a gaping vacuum just waiting to be filled by a pìlot with a modicum of writing talent. Until that guy or gal comes along though, I'd simply tell Capt Mike to hire an editor!
